How SSDI Work Credits are Earned [In 150 Words]

Written by Scott Flexer | Jul 5 2016

SSDI benefits and SSDI work credits are essentially dependent on each other. You can only accrue these credits through working and those credits are a part of the Social Security Administration’s formula for calculating your SSDI benefit amount.

How are SSDI Work Credits Earned?

The answer to how you can earn SSDI work credits is seemingly simple by working; however, it gets a bit more complex than simply working.

For example, you earn 1 work credit per each $1,260 of income earned for the year 2016.

While your work credits are an earned reflection of your work history and how much you have paid into Social Security Taxes, they are also dependent on your age.
